Capcom’s ‘Onimusha: Way of the Sword’ Is Set for a September 2026 Release
A new trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword has ben unviled. Marking a major revival for Capcom‘s long-dormant survival-action franchise – which originally debuted on PlayStation 2 in 2001 -the new title follows Miyamoto Musashi as he wields the Oni Gauntlet to battle demonic Genma forces across a dark fantasy reimagining of feudal Japan. The trailer highlights the game’s core “Severing Fates” premise, where Musashi must navigate corrupted shrines, answer the desperate prayers of locals and utilize his gauntlet to sever the binding ties of demonic malice.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword marks the first major installment in the series in over a decade, following Capcom’s renewed interest in reviving classic IPs. A playable demo currently available on the PlayStation Store, with the full game scheduled for an official release on September 4, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam.
